Loretta Polizzi, 97, passed away on February 6, 2018. Born July 17, 1920, loving wife of the late Joseph S. Polizzi and predeceased by her first husband, Mario Della Giovanna, her parents Louis and Theresa DeMonte and her son Ronald Della Giovanna.
Loretta was a homemaker and devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed family gatherings, entertaining and cooking fabulous meals from appetizers to desserts. She loved being around friends and family and was the life of the party. Loretta also loved to dance. She was a tap dancer until the age of 18 and performed a specialty dance in front of the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. She enjoyed the movies, going to shows, traveling and spending time with her family. She took up oil painting in her fifties and painted until she was 94. Over the years she generously gave her beautiful paintings to family and friends.
Loretta is survived by her brother Louis DeMonte, Jr, her sister Marie Capalbo, her two daughters Karen (Jim) Barclay and Cindy (Paul) Rein, her daughter-in-law Carol Della Giovanna, four grandchildren Nicole (Della Giovanna) Gargiulo, Michelle Della Giovanna, Sarah Rein and Matthew Rein; and one great-granddaughter Rosalie Gargiulo.
Visitation will be held at Kearns Funeral Home, 445 East Meadow Avenue, East Meadow, New York 11554 on February 11, 2018 at 12 - 4 pm and 6 - 8 pm. Funeral service will be held on February 12, 2018 at St. Raphael's, 600 Newbridge Road, East Meadow, New York 11554 at 9:45 am. Burial will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery.
