Obituary for Joan J. Maiolo (James)
Joan J. Maiolo, 86, of Huntingtown and Owings Maryland, formerly of Merrick, New York; passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on January 13, 2019.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruno Maiolo, parents Lucy and Vincent James, and sister Nancy Gossens.
She is survived by her four children: Terri Oddo of Owings, Maryland; Nancy Taverna and husband Frank of Huntingtown Maryland; Patricia Clarry of Owings, Maryland; and Michael Maiolo and wife Kate of Monroe Township, New Jersey.
She is also survived by her two brothers: Thomas James and wife Beth; and William James and wife Violet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a beloved grandmother of ten grandchildren: Greg Oddo and wife Jess; Frank Taverna; Charley Oddo and significant other Erica; Ryan Clarry; Catherine (Taverna) Jenifer and husband Tobias; Daniel Oddo; Caroline Clarry; Matthew Maiolo; Kevin Clarry; and Kevin Maiolo. She was the great grandmother of Siena Oddo.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019, from 2pm – 8pm, with a special remembrance at 7 pm, at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home, East Meadow, New York. She will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. There will be a brief service at 10 am at the funeral home on Saturday, prior to departing for St. Charles, where an additional brief ceremony will take place at 10:30.
