Obituary for William J. Mullan

William J. Mullan (Bill) passed away peacefully on March 6, 2018. He was the son of William and Anna Mullan of Ozone Park. The youngest of three children, born on March 13, 1933. Bill is survived by his wife Carole Ann married almost 62 years, and their children, four biological, eight adopted, and 32 fostered children for a total of 44 kids in 44 years. Bill served in the Navy as a radar operator on the USS Keppler DD 765 Destroyer from 1952 – 1956.

Bill transformed a school bus into a camper to house their large family during the many adventurous travels the Mullan family enjoyed together; north to Maine, south to Florida, and west to New Mexico. He also had a passion for dance, enjoying challenge level square dancing for many decades.

Bill enjoyed his position as Assistant Director of Support Services at Nassau University Medical Center until his retirement in 1990 but continued working. He was still working part time for his oldest son until two years ago. He was a very happy and joyful man and lived life with great enthusiasm. He was very loved by all and will be greatly missed.
