When I received to notification of Tom's passing, it was noted he has no family. I can assure you Tom had a family of thousands who knew and admired him during his many years in the NYPD. Tom Nearney was looked upon as an outstanding investigator and and dedicated NYPD Detective. His reputation for excellence was nationally known by his colleagues both in and out of the department. It was my pleasure to have been associated with Tom during many Kidnap Investigations. I will always remember Tom as the ultimate professional who served his Country in the (U.S. Marines)and NYPD with distinction and honor. My wife and I pray that God has welcomed 1st.
